Tonight, I was totally inspired by a Haiti relief fundraiser concert. A local entertainer, Monte Leister, volunteered his time and talents to raise money for a group called Hope for Haiti (not to be confused with the widely televised concert last week) that is based in Westminster, Maryland and provides education support, agricultural support and other help to Haiti. Hope for Haiti is currently gearing up to provide additional relief focused to the earthquakes that have taken place over the last few weeks.
So I belive Monte spoke alot of truth when he said (paraphrased) “I am not called to foreign mission currently, God has called me here right now so what can we do to help Haiti from where God has called me.”(once again Paraphrased) Monte Volunteered his time and was able to raise around $1,500 for Hope for Haiti.
So that leads me to ask how can I help? I also do not feel a call to foreign missions. I also feel called to be right here now, however we can stand behind those who are. We can give prayer and financial support for those who are in the mission field. I would encourage each of you to prayerfully donate to an organization like Hope for Haiti that will be able to help out those who are affected by this natural disaster.
If you would like to donate to Hope for Haiti you can do so by going to the website http://www.hope-for-haiti.org They accept Pay Pal donations online and it only takes a few minutes to make a world of difference. Don’t forget to also keep this organization in your prayers as the work in Haiti continues.
I also wanted to mention that as always Monte did a great job with this concert. Everyone left the venue with a huge smile on their face. If you would like more information on Monte Leister you can visit his site at http://www.musicwithmonte.com/
As always
